Explain the importance of stress management
Stress management is crucial for maintaining overall well-being and improving the quality of life. It involves adopting strategies and techniques to cope with and reduce the negative effects of stress, which is the body’s natural response to challenging or threatening situations. While some level of stress can be beneficial as it motivates us and helps us deal with challenges, excessive or prolonged stress can have detrimental effects on our physical, emotional, and mental health.
What are the different types of stressors?
Stress is not always a bad thing. Stress is simply the body’s response to changes that create taxing (physically or mentally) demands. Stressors are not always limited to situations where some external situation is creating a problem. Internal events such as feelings and thoughts and habitual behaviours can also cause negative stress.
There are two types of stressors. (i) Eustress (ii) Distress
Eustress is normal psychological stress interpreted as being beneficial for the experience.
Distress means extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain
